Colour Exercises
Give yourself time to do the colour exercises, they are designed to assist you in your personal development and to maintain good health, especially if you practice them regularly. You will discover a level of well being that you never knew was possible. And the good news is that colour is a tool which is readily available to all.
Understanding the deeper meaning of colour and how we are affected by it reconnects us with our inner light as a guiding force in our lives. Trust your light within and the path that it illuminates for you on your individual journey. In this way, you will always be where you're meant to be because you'll be resonating with your own true colours.
Each of us has the power within to do more than we can imagine, but without a key to unlock our inherent gifts, we remain unaware of all that we could be.Colour is the key
Exercising with colour will take you on a journey to rediscover your true nature and the full spectrum of your potential, using the transformative power of colour.Once we begin working conciously with colour a whole new vision of life opens up and we begin to see the inter-relatedness of all things both seen and unseen. The Universal truth, all is one, then becomes a reality within our heightened awareness.
When we describe someone as being 'off colour', without knowing it we are picking up that they have an energy imbalance which is causing tiredness or a feeling of being unwell. When our colour batteries are low, we feel drained and run down. When we are in balance, our colours are bright and vibrant and we are full of energy and life. We radiate colour when we are positively charged and we naturally maintain a feeling of well-being and good health.
Colour pervades every aspect of our existence and connects our inner and outer worlds. Working with colour is aesthetically pleasing, simple to do and the benefits are enormous. How many of us put up with stiff necks, headaches, and backaches to name but a few-and no longer remember how it feels to be perfectly in balance. If you engage in the following colour exercises, colour will change your life and allow you to grow in untold ways.
Health benefits of colour
Without light, nothing could live on this planet. Light sustains all life. All the colours of the spectrum are contained in light and we instinctively feel uplifted when we are bathed in bright natural light. Colour therapy has been with us since the big bang - 'and then there was light'. Natural light can be broken down through a prism to seven colours we know as the spectrum, the rainbow colours - red, orange, yellow, green.sky blue, indigo, violet. It's important to remember however, that light is always moving and that within each colour there are endless variations, just as we have our own infinite potential that we can choose to develop in a myriad of ways.
Our bodies need a regular dose of sunlight to stay in good health physically, emotionally, mentally & spiritually. Light contains all the colours of the spectrum which help us to remain balanced on all levels.
Ultraviolet light within sunlight is essential in the production of vitamin D which aids calcium absorption within the body. Studies have shown that light boosts serotonin levels in the brain providing a relief for a variety of psychological disorders including eating disorders, Seasonal Affective Disorder & depression.
Long hours spent working indoors can lead to light deprivation, which has significant effects on health including stress, fatigue, depression, lack of concentration, hyperactivity in children & weak teeth & bones.
Taking daily walks in nature, whatever the weather is a good and natural way to boost our light intake.Absorbing light through the eyes without glasses has been proven to be beneficial to our overall health as it has a direct influence on the hypothalamus. The hypothalamus controls the nervous system, stimulates the hormonal system via the pineal gland & regulates our metabolism.
Rainbow Breath
The rainbow breath is an all-round balancer for re-charging and re-balancing.
If ever you're in need of recharging your batteries, take yourself into the fresh air, tilt your head towards the sun with your eyes closed and carry out the rainbow breath. This exercise is the perfect remedy when feeling 'off' colour!
It is preferable to take yourself outdoors whilst carrying out the exercise. An ideal time for colour breathing is early in the morning when the sun is rising.Generally the more we can bathe in natural light the better we will feel.Light is of the utmost importance to us,take advantage of natural light wherever possible.
Stand with your feet slightly apart facing the sun with arms hanging loosely and comfortably at your side.Keep your palms open towards the sun so that the minor chakras in each palm can be energised.
Close your eyes and breathe in the appropriate colour for each chakra starting with the red centre at the base of your spine. Breathe red in and out for either three or seven breaths, imagining the red centre being flooded with red light.
Then move up into the orange centre and so on until you reach the violet centre.
When you have completed the Rainbow Breath, be still for a few moments as you engage in the experience of this rebalancing exercise.
Colour breathing with two colours
Choose two colours, they will be the ones you are drawn to,the colours you love, a natural response is an intake of breath - then an ahhh! The colour sings to us and our beings resonate with the colour. Secure two objects in those same colours and place them on your work station, throughout the day, spend a few moments being still and engaging with each colour in turn.Breath the colours into your being, colour is vital to our happiness and well being, and today you have chosen these two colours because on some level you need them, breathe them in. With regular colour shots throughout the day you are guaranteed to feel brighter and to finish the day with a smile and renewed enthusiasm for life.
De-stressing with colour
Another unique de-stressing exercise, take two coloured pens, red and green (not felt tips as the colours bleed and are too harsh)a large sheet of unlined white paper or card. Play your favourite music and turn the volume up, take the phone off the hook and make sure you wont be disturbed, sitting comfortably with a coloured pencil in each hand begin to create coloured shapes on the paper, continue doing this for a few minutes, as fast as you can, enjoying the sense of letting go,then stop and observe your colourful creation and experience the relief you feel.
Colour energise water
You can purchase the packs of colour filters to solarise water or follow the instructions to make your own. Choose a glass (not plastic) container in the colour needed and fill with still spring water.Place the container on a sill where it can catch the sunlight.Leave it for two hours or all day if overcast and use as needed.
The magnetic colours (red orange yellow) can be taken in tumberfuls and be used before 2pm daily but the electrical colours (blue indigo violet and green) should only be sipped and not more than half a small tumberful at a time, can be used all day up until bedtime.
Red - Gives energy and warmth. Activates the system and raises blood pressure.
Orange - Soothes the digestive and circulatory systems.A great antidote to depression.
Yellow - Increases the flow of vital fluids in the body. Clears sluggish systems and constipation.
