The new natural haynet - feed the way nature intended!

Another ingenious product from Bitless Bridle UK is to Revolutionise Hay Feeding
Feeding hay to horses has always presented problems:
-
Traditional hay nets do not hold much hay and can be dangerous
-
Traditional hay nets have to be hung up to prevent possibility of a horse getting a foot caught
-
Horses are ‘designed’ by nature to eat in a head-down position
The solution until now has been to put hay on the ground however
-
This causes wastage
-
Hay can blow around on a windy day
-
Horses walk on it and sometimes defeacate on it, rendering it inedible
-
Because there is no restriction, horses can eat a large amount of hay in a short time, then are left with nothing and since horses’ gut constantly secretes acid, this can cause stomach ulcers
At last – a simple solution! Designed and developed in Germany by Barefoot trimmers Melany Clahsen and Christoph Gehrmann, a wonderfully simple but effective solution. Ground Haynets These are large haynets (the largest measuring approx 10ft long x 3ft deep), designed to attach to an existing fence, wall or even between two trees, just above the ground.
There is an ingenious method for filling too – a wooden pole is provided, with a tie at one end and a slot at the other, to hold the net open; once filled, the pole is simply threaded through the hay net to close it. The mesh size is 60mm - 70mm, small enough to stop hay being wasted and so hooves (even small ones) won’t get caught, yet large enough not to be frustrating for the horse and just the right size for trickle-feeding.
The large haynet ‘Haynet-XXL’ holds around a bale and a half of hay, so less time is spent taking hay to the horses and filling nets! This size is ideal for horses kept naturally, in a herd situation, either wholly or partially outdoors or yarded.
The small haynet ‘Haynet-L’ is half the size of the XXL, approx 5ft long x 3ft deep and will hold just under a bale of hay; perfect for a smaller number of horses or a number of smaller horses (ie ponies, donkeys, miniatures etc)!
Designed for use with barefoot / unshod horses only. Bitless Bridle UK is sole UK distributor for these fantastic ‘ground’ haynets
