Women's Environmental Network  - visit website
educating, empowering and informing women and men who care about the environment. Campaigning on environment and health issues from a female perspective.
WEN is a unique, vital and innovative campaigning organisation, which represents women and campaigns on issues, which link women, environment and health. Formed in 1988, it is a registered charity and membership organisation that depends on its members, donations and limited grant support for survival. WEN has achieved much over the years. WEN has a record of being the first to raise awareness on issues and of breaking taboos. We take up issues that other environmental groups don't or won't, especially those concerning women's health and reproductive systems. We have been asked to speak at many national and international conferences and are invited to respond formally to government policy and proposed legislation. Central to WEN's approach is the belief that women have the right to information to enable them to make fair choices. We also believe a precautionary approach is healthiest for people and the planet.

Living Streets  - visit website
The Living Streets initiative is a clear and urgent challenge to the authorities who, for decades, have allowed traffic priorities to overwhelm our local streets and public places, and failed to keep them clean and safe.
The Living Streets Manifesto is the battle plan to make the places we want to walk and spend time in become something more than traffic corridors or hang-outs for vandals or criminals. It can be done and the action starts right here and now. At last - a campaign to make your local streets worth living in - worth strolling, meeting, shopping, sitting or relaxing in. At last - a campaign to keep them clean, bright and safe for young and old, in village, town and city. A campaign that is a wake-up call for the silent majority of UK families.

Campaign against Climate Change  - visit website
The destabilisation of global climate has become the very greatest threat to our planet and everyone on it - with the possible exception only of all-out war with modern weapons of mass-destruction
Action is urgently needed now. But ignorance, inertia, short term greed and vested interests stand in the way. Campaign against Climate Change exists to fight against all these things in the interests of pushing for the urgent and radical action we need to prevent the irreversible destabilisation of global climate. In particular The CCC acts as an umbrella group for street demonstrations designed to maximise the greatest number of people in order to push for urgent action on climate change, challenge those who are preventing this and raise the profile of the issue, generally.

The Rainforest Foundation  - visit website
The Rainforest Foundation supports indigenous people and traditional populations of the world's rainforests in their efforts to protect their environment and fulfil their rights
Around the world, there are millions of people living in rainforests whose livelihoods and cultures depend on their natural environment. In many cases, the basic rights of these people are threatened or undermined by forest destruction, land theft and resource exploitation. The Rainforest Foundation believes that the long-term protection of rainforests and the rights of indigenous communities to land, life and livelihoods, are inextricably linked

Eco Matters  - visit website
The website dedicated to Progressio's advocacy work concerning environmental issues
Progressio is an international development organisation working for justice and the eradication of poverty. The environment is being harmed on an unprecedented scale, as natural resources are exploited in unsustainable ways to fuel the demands of our industrialised world. Water, air and soil are all being spoilt; many plant and animal species have been brought to the brink of extinction. Every country and ecosystem on earth is now affected, some irreversibly. The key challenge for our times is to stop this destruction and, where possible, repair the damage which has already been done.

Remineralize.org  - visit website
A non-profit organization incorporated to disseminate ideas and practice about soil remineralization throughout the world.
The remineralization of forests, farms, orchards, and gardens with glacial gravel and rock dust is nature's way to regenerate and fertilize soils. There is evidence to suggest that as forests begin to die off worldwide, giving off carbon dioxide, the climate of the Earth is altered, triggering the transition from the warm interglacial to an Ice Age. We are hastening this process with the burning of fossil fuels. Undertaking the task of remineralization is urgent to restore our agricultural soils, to save the dying forests in the temperate latitudes, and to stabilize our climate.

RoadBlock  - visit website
Road Block is an alliance of groups and individuals campaigning against road-building
Road Block has launched in response to a roads programme of around 200 proposed or planned schemes throughout the UK: a scale of road building not seen since the infamous 1990s road building programme, which led to unprecedented community-based protest. Many schemes were cancelled and the new Labour government made a manifesto pledge to cut road building and traffic growth. Today’s escalating number of road schemes suggests that the Government has given up on this commitment. Road building destroys and degrades habitats, species, and heritage. It divides and fragments communities. It contributes to health problems such as asthma. Road building does little for the poorest in society, who depend on public transport.

Flora locale  - visit website
Flora locale is a registered charity that encourages, across Britain and Ireland, the wise use of wild plants for planting schemes that have wildlife in mind
Massive land use changes have taken place in the 20th century. Extensive areas of wildflower meadows, fens and wetlands in river valleys have been drained and converted for intensive agricultural use. Many semi-natural ancient woodlands have been destroyed and converted to agriculture or intensive forestry. New factories, housing estates and airports have also eaten away wildlife habitats such as heath, wetland and species-rich grassland. The emphasis of our work is to encourage good practice among suppliers, land managers and plant specifiers involved in large-scale habitat creation and restoration projects in the countryside.

Rezolve  - visit website
Reduce, Reuse, Recycle in Cornwall - It is a very real crisis. Waste continues to be produced in this country but landfill disposal space is running out.
ReZolve was formed in 1997 as Cornwall's Waste Working Group. Its aim was to debate the waste management issues that were important in Cornwall at the time and, to this end, the Group developed a strategy for tackling waste in the county. In the intervening years the membership of CWWG expanded adding a wider spectrum of opinions so that the membership ranges from Friends of The Earth and Cornwall Wildlife Trust to landfill operators and local authorities.

Planning Disaster  - visit website
The Planning Disaster Coalition has made a map of all the potential major infrastructure projects which could pass through the government's proposed major infrastructure planning process
Good planning is essential for sustainable development and environmental protection. A coalition of the UK 's main environmental, conservation and civic organisations with currently over 5 million members came together out of a deep concern over many of the recommendations of the Barker Review of Land Use Planning. Having now been incorporated into the Government’s Planning White Paper, these reccomendations would - if implemented in its current form - be a backwards step for the planning system
