Meditation can make you physically healthier. Studies have shown that those who meditate regularly often boast a stronger immune system compared with those who don’t meditate. A stronger immune system means fewer illnesses and lead to a more positive frame of mind.
As for mental health, the positive benefits of meditation are clear. The ability to drone-out the static noise which clogs our day through quiet reflection provides leads to less stress and heightened creativity. Additionally, quiet reflection allows for more clarity and focus.
Neuroscientists have found that people who meditate regularly actually shift their brain activity to different areas of the cortex, brain waves in the stress-prone right frontal cortex move to the calmer left frontal cortex. The effects of this change is that they were calmer and happier than before.
What will I learn? This Journey into Meditation Workshop is an exciting, experimental and interactive journey into meditation. It will cover the theory of Meditation and how to use meditation at home to promote health and wellbeing. It will also provide students with the opportunity to participate in and learn a number of basic meditation techniques. It is designed to help you deal with the stresses and strains of modern day to day life, helping you deal with the symptoms you might be experiencing as a result such as tension or stiffness in the neck, back and shoulders, frequent headaches, mood swings, over-eating and even sleep problems.
