Studies by The National Institute of Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) found that 884 chemicals used in personal care products and cosmetics are known to be toxic. These chemicals can cause a variety of health issues including sensitive skin, respiratory problems, skin rashes, premature ageing, headaches, cancer and others. Misleading labels are common, some of which describe a product as organic when in fact it only has a small amount of organic ingredients alongside a wide range of synthetic substances. The word "natural” is also often used, yet skincare products only need 1% natural ingredients!
