Things are Happening at Eco Eco Clothing

A new year and hopefully a good one for us all. The news is full of doom and gloom and yet almost everyone we talk to is riding the recession pretty well. The media isn't into positive thinking so the best thing to do is ignore it. Try to enjoy the moment rather than buying into the paranoia, and relax about outcomes. Feel good about what you have and appreciate the smaller, quieter things that we take for granted. A really good cup of tea (organic and fair trade, naturally!), a walk on a windy day to invigorate, home baked bread, getting together with friends and family and having a really good laugh - these are all things that cost little or nothing but add to our general contentment.

Eco Eco Website - we're back

It's taken a long time but our online store is back up and running. The whole website has been redesigned so do go and have a look - http://www.eco-eco.co.uk/ - and feel free to comment as it's still being fine-tuned.

There are now a few items for the home in our new living section, and there will be many more added in due course. We'll also be loading lots of new clothing items; we hope you like the photos that we took at our local hotel, The Losehill House Hotel (http://www.losehillhouse.co.uk/ and thanks to them for being so helpful on the day).

There will be new features to come over the next few months including Seasons, our online magazine, which will bring you hints and ideas for each month so keep checking back.

Clothes store on the move

Our shop in The Courtyard, Hope, is moving around the corner to a lovely old building right on the corner of Edale Road. At one point the property, along with the post office next door, was a pub called The Durham Ox. In a later incarnation it was the Williams and Deacons bank, then became Williams and Glyns and finally the RBS, but closed down in the mid 80s. It's been an office building since then but we can't wait to turn it into a charming new shop.

The contractors are in at the moment - Alison has already found layers of old 19C wallpaper that she's trying to separate - but we're hoping to be in and open by the beginning of February.

That date may move backwards slightly but we're planning to move the stock in a few weeks. The building is much larger than our present premises so we're intending to start small-scale manufacturing in one of the upstairs rooms. We've always wanted to create our own exclusive range using natural organic fibres and local wool and the venture starts here.

We'll announce the opening of our new Derbyshire store as soon as we can
