This time of year always feel positive and heart opening to me - the ancient Taoists believed spring is the time of hope. These days it also feels like the energy has sped up and new things are beginning to happen, as this email shows - it's going to be quite a spring and summer!

Classes After Easter
Our classes are all taking shape nicely after Easter with new classes scheduled for Torquay and Totnes plus new terms starting in London, Surrey, across Devon and Cornwall too. Plus Dorothy's classes in Italy are ongoing too. As you may know, our teachers cover quite a few areas, but from July it's looking like we will have new graduates covering more areas of the UK - giving you more access to our unique syllabus.
All of our updated class information is available here.
Qigong Week
If a week on retreat at a Buddhist Centre sounds nice then this meditation and Qigong week could be the perfect thing. We have a week long event running during 2012, at the Barn Rural Buddhist Retreat Centre, in Devon. 29th April to 5th May - Qigong week with Matthew Rochford. Details of these retreats are available here: click or call them on 01803 732 661.
Weekend Workshops
We have 5 weekend courses left this year and just finished one with Luke Shepherd which attracted over 30 people from all over the UK. Our next one is with me and is called "Embrace Tiger - Tai Chi Evolution". It's running from 15th to 17th June and will focus on the 37 Short Form, 5 Loosening Exercises, Push Hands and Personal Development. Have a look here for all the info and booking (it's only £70) Plus check out all our other weekends too - something for everyone, and such a great venue!
Festivals and World Tai Chi Day
We have been asked to teach at the upcoming Tagore Festival at Dartington 6th to 9th April so there will be Tai Chi on the Monday morning at 9am, outside, lovely!
Angus Clark from Living Movement has invited us to participate in World Tai Chi Day - a free event on 28th April, here is the info, should be a great day with loads of free Tai Chi and Qigong with some top teachers. The venue for this event is Exeter Cathedral Green but have a look at the international site too.
Westcountry Story Telling Festival will feature daily Tai Chi sessions in their Stone Circle, plus a Story about Tai Chi from me. It's a brilliant festival for the whole family and runs August Bank Holiday Weekend (24th to 27th).
i-Chi Online Course
So far we've had over 400 sign ups for the free content and 20 people have started the Level 1 Course (now $69/£43). The feedback has been very positive, it's been great to see such a good response to what we have created - something of an experiment, but it seems to be working well. If you haven't given it a go yet, then please consider it, we think it's the best thing of it's kind out there!
One to One Tuition via Skype or Facebook
It's amazing what you can do these days, with the right technology. I can now offer live one to one sessions in Tai Chi and Qigong over the internet. It works a treat. To book an initial session ($20/£12.50) just email me: matthew@taichination.com or find out more here.
Shop
Over the last month we have added new titles to the shop including some lovely books and Angus Clark's new DVD set. We even have a few t-shirts left (not for much longer though as there are hardly any left!). Please check out our shop and pick up a genuine Tai Chi bargain :)
Instructor Training
Our pioneering course starts again 8th/9th September. It's been a great success so far and provides a comprehensive training in Qigong, Tai Chi (beginners Form) and much more. Here is the full information.
"Thank you so much for the last two years it has been amazing. I enjoyed the course so much, and yes you are right, I have been on an amazing journey" - Sue Riddett, Course Graduate.
Interview with Patrick Kelly
Patrick is one of the worlds most interesting and accomplished Tai Chi practitioners. This interview was done with him last year and has recently been edited and added to. It's really worth a read, especially if you are interested in the internal aspects of practice and discovering some of Tai Chi's secrets.
