Healing Drama With Drama
We’ve all been caught up in dramas at some time in our lives, ranging from the mini versions right up to the full blown epics. Sometimes we continue with life still subscribing to our dramas and sometimes we recognise the process which just happened and we solemnly swear to not go down that route again…..and then the next time off we go!
I’ve done my fair share of drama creation in my life and the tools which helped me out of that habit came from my meeting with stage 3 ovarian cancer in 2000. With my survival statistics being around 17% it was really easy for me to drop all the small stuff because it was very easily and instantly recognisable as small and unimportant stuff. Then last year I sat holding the hand of my dear love as he died of cancer, having only known each other for one very beautiful year. And despite that being a year when we both knew what was coming (although we always kept a window open for miracles) my beautiful love described it as the best year of his life.
It really does seem as if our drama habits can be healed with a large dose of what we would call drama!
I’ve been working as a holistic healer since I first started to work back through the roots of my cancer and have put together many holistic healing holidays and self healing group retreats. This year I’ve put together a drama workshop with the help of my good friend and experienced drama teacher Tina to draw on and share our skills and experiences using drama to heal drama. It’s like homeopathic drama!
The workshop is based around fairytales as our inherited stories both culturally and personally give us wonderful insights into our beliefs and thought patterns, as well as being great fun! Imagine rescuing yourself from the highest tower, which you built yourself for reasons you’ve since forgotten, slaying your dragons and demons, which you employed for reasons which you’ve since forgotten. By the end of the week just like all good fairytales you’ll have created your very own happily ever after.
The venue for this event is the fairytale forest of Finland. Accommodation is on a working organic farm, with all meals included.
The workshop runs from Sunday 5th August – Sunday 12th August 2012. Absolutely no experience is necessary! The sessions will be held in the morning and the afternoons and evenings are free to explore the local forests and lakes or to help out on the farm. Accommodation and all meals are provided. Accommodation may be shared or single and washing facilities are shared (sauna & shower)
Participants can be collected from Heinola bus station which has easy access to Helsinki airport. Price is £200 per person
You can come earlier or stay later which gives greater flexibility for flight times. Individual healing sessions can be arranged subject to availability.
